This is an ecological restoration project aimed
at restoring 10.6 kilometers of aquatic, riparian
and floodplain habitat along a tributary of Coyle
Creek in Pelham. The fulfillment of the project
goals will bring increased environmental awareness
to the local community, and the corridor created
will benefit fish, wildlife and the ecosystem
as a whole.
Project goals are achieved through the creation
of individual landowner projects, where the landowner
will participate in both the planning and implementation
stages of restoration to their land. Some financial
assistance is available to landowners wanting
to manage their land in an ecologically responsible
manner.
Funding for this program has been obtained from
EcoAction 2000, Shell Canada Environmental Fund,
Ontario Stewardship Program, Land Care Niagara
and The Great Lakes Clean-up Foundation as a funder.
